Lighting is four decisions that usually belong to four different companies: who controls it, what the light itself is, which fixtures go in the ceilings, and what happens outside. When they are four companies, the seams show — in the ceiling and in the keypad. At Cave Group they are one team, working from your drawings.

Ketra is Lutron’s full-spectrum intelligent light: cool and bright at noon, warm amber at dinner, candlelight at midnight — from the same fixtures, automatically, in any color you can name. Rania is the newer Lutron line built on Ketra’s color mixing for one job: natural white light, from 1,800K incandescent glow to 5,500K afternoon sun, at 90+ CRI — as downlights, tape light, and S30/S38 lamps.
Both live inside Lutron HomeWorks, so they use the keypads and app you already know — and both are the modules Coastal Source builds into VIA outdoors, so the terrace and the living room shift together through the evening.

DMF builds recessed downlighting as a system — housing, light module, and trim as separate pieces. You choose the beam, the brightness, and the color temperature. Change your mind three years from now, and the module swaps out from below: no drywall, no painter, no electrician.

The Ketra and Rania modules in the ceiling are the same modules Coastal Source builds into VIA outside — on one Lutron HomeWorks system. So “Evening” is one keypad button: the living room, the terrace, and the trees warm down together. Try it.

The best lighting-design decisions are cheap on paper and expensive after the ceilings close. We join early and stay until the last fixture is aimed in the dark.

We join at the architectural and design phase and lay out the lighting with your architect and designer — layers, scenes, and budget on paper first.
02 · Specify
Fixture by Fixture
Ketra, Rania, DMF, HK, and VIA — schedules and cut sheets your electrician can build from, coordinated with the control system.
03 · Rough-in
Before the Drywall
Housings, drivers, and low-voltage runs placed with your GC and electrician; outdoor trenches coordinated with the landscape architect before hardscape goes in.
04 · Aim
At Night, With You
After finishes are in, we come back in the dark: every fixture aimed, every scene tuned, every keypad button named the way you say it.

Are you an authorized DMF dealer in New York and New Jersey?+–
Yes. Cave Group is an authorized dealer for DMF, HK Lighting, and Coastal Source, a Lutron Gold dealer for Lutron, Ketra, and Rania, and a Crestron Elite Gold dealer. We design, specify, install, and support lighting across Manhattan, Westchester, the Hamptons, Bergen County and northern New Jersey, and Fairfield County, Connecticut.
Lutron or Crestron for the lighting control?+–
Either — we are Gold-level with both, and the right answer usually follows the rest of the house. Ketra, Rania, and Coastal Source VIA are native to Lutron HomeWorks, so a home built around those goes Lutron. DMF and HK fixtures dim cleanly on Lutron or Crestron, so a Crestron whole-home system controls them directly. We will tell you which before anything is ordered.
Can Ketra or Rania work with the Lutron system I already have?+–
If your home runs HomeWorks, yes — they join the keypads and app you already use. Older Lutron systems may need a processor upgrade first; we will tell you exactly what is required before anything is ordered.
Can the outdoor lighting match the scenes inside?+–
Yes — that is the point of Coastal Source VIA. The same Ketra and Rania modules sit inside the outdoor fixtures, on the same HomeWorks system, so “Evening” on the kitchen keypad warms the terrace and the trees at the same moment. See the outdoor page →
Do you design the lighting, or only install it?+–
Both. We work from your architect’s or designer’s drawings to lay out fixtures, specify Ketra, Rania, DMF, HK, and Coastal Source products, coordinate rough-in with your electrician, then program the scenes and aim the fixtures at night once finishes are in.
