Italy builds more superyachts than any other country on earth. Viareggio alone produces more vessels over 50 meters per year than entire nations. Ancona, La Spezia, and Fano add hundreds more — custom and production, sailing and motor, steel and aluminum.
Cave Group works at and around the major Italian yacht building and refit yards. We partner with builders at the design stage for new projects, and we run technology refits on scheduled yard periods for vessels already in service. Every system we install — Crestron 4-Series control and lighting, L-Acoustics audio, Starlink Maritime connectivity, UniFi Protect security — is specified for the marine environment and commissioned on-site before the vessel leaves the yard.

Viareggio

Viareggio is the heart of Italian yacht building. Benetti has been launching custom superyachts from its Viareggio yard for over a century. Perini Navi's sailing yachts, Rossinavi's naval-architect-led customs, and Codecasa's classic steel displacements all build within a few kilometers of each other. Cave Group works on vessels in build and on refit within this yard cluster.
La Spezia

La Spezia hosts Sanlorenzo's flagship build facility and Baglietto's historic yard. Both are known for custom steel-and-aluminum displacements in the 40 to 70 meter range. Refit work for Mediterranean-based fleets also lands here because of the yard infrastructure. Our work ranges from Crestron 4-Series lighting and cabin scene control to full Crestron automation at the new-build stage.
Ancona

Ancona is home to CRN's purpose-built superyacht shipyard and serves as a primary Ferretti Group build location. CRN produces full-custom vessels in the 50 to 90 meter range where technology is specified into the build package rather than retrofitted. We've partnered on projects where the AV, lighting control, Kaleidescape cinema, and Starlink Maritime connectivity were integrated during outfitting.

Fano is the base for Pershing's performance-oriented yachts, Custom Line's planing superyachts, and Mangusta's open sport vessels. All three lines run sophisticated entertainment and automation packages — ideal for Crestron 4-Series, DM NVX video distribution, and L-Acoustics marine audio.

Massa is the refit center of the Tyrrhenian coast. Full technology refits happen during yard periods here — pulling out legacy 3-Series Crestron, old Lutron HomeWorks Illumination (left over from previous integrators), older NVRs and satellite gear, and installing modern Crestron 4-Series with unified Crestron lighting control, Starlink Maritime, and UniFi Protect. We fit the work into scheduled haul-out windows.

Services for Italian Yards and Vessels
New Build AV Integration
For vessels being built at Viareggio, La Spezia, Ancona, or Fano, we work directly with the naval architect and yard from concept drawings through sea trials. Technology is specified into the build package — cable paths, equipment rooms, power planning, and commissioning during outfitting. Clean installations with no retrofit compromises.
Legacy Technology Refits
Italian yards are home to many of the Mediterranean's longest-running charter yachts. Legacy Crestron 3-Series, old Lutron HomeWorks Illumination (left over from earlier integrators), aging NVRs, and older VSAT platforms all need replacement — we migrate everything to unified Crestron 4-Series with Crestron lighting control, Starlink Maritime, and UniFi Protect. We run full refits on scheduled yard windows — typically 2 to 6 weeks depending on vessel size and scope.
Starlink Maritime + Peplink Multi-WAN
Italian builds can be delivered with Starlink Maritime high-performance antennas plus Peplink multi-SIM cellular failover and UniFi Enterprise onboard distribution. One integrated communication bundle with automatic WAN failover from Starlink to cellular in port. No VSAT lock-in, no legacy satellite fees.
Crestron Lighting Specification
Crestron 4-Series lighting modules, dimmers, and keypads specified into new builds at the design stage. Marine-grade wiring, UV-resistant keypads, tunable white cabin scenes, underwater lighting integration, and unified control with the main Crestron automation system. We coordinate directly with the interior designer and yard electrical team.
L-Acoustics & Coastal Source Marine Audio
L-Acoustics marine speakers and amplifiers for deck audio. Coastal Source architectural audio for sun deck and aft deck. James Loudspeaker marine in-ceiling for saloons and staterooms. Every audio system is specified for salt, UV, and constant vibration — not consumer gear hardened after the fact.
UniFi Protect Marine Security
G6 Pro 4K cameras with AI person and vehicle detection, local NVR storage, and mobile app access. Perimeter at anchor, dock-side monitoring, tender bay cameras, and license plate recognition at gates. No licensing fees, no data stored on vendor clouds, no monthly subscriptions — you own your footage.
