Englewood’s largest lots are on the East Hill, in the northeast of the city, where the zoning calls for about two acres and the master plan describes large homes on wooded lawns. Many of those houses are older than any technology we install, which means plaster walls, original millwork, and no empty conduit waiting for us.
So the work here is mostly retrofit, and the measure of a good retrofit is that nobody can tell it was done.

Thick walls stop Wi-Fi. We cable to a few well-placed access points, usually through the basement and the attic, so that everything else has something reliable to stand on.

Who installs Lutron lighting control in Englewood, NJ?+–
Cave Group does. We are a Lutron Gold Dealer and Crestron Elite Gold Partner with an office in Fairview, in the same county, and much of our work is in older houses like those on the East Hill: lighting control, shades, audio, and networks installed without disturbing the interiors.
Can you add lighting control to a 1920s house without opening the plaster?+–
Yes. Lutron’s wireless systems replace switches one for one on the existing wiring and talk to each other by radio, so there is no new cable in the walls. Where a room is being renovated anyway, we take the chance to wire it conventionally, and the two approaches run as one system.
Will keypads look out of place in a traditional interior?+–
They should not. Keypads come in metal and glass finishes that can be matched to the door hardware and plates already in the house, engraved with the scene names you choose. They replace rows of switches rather than adding to them.
Our house is in the East Hill historic area. Does that limit what you can install?+–
Inside, no. Outside, we keep cameras, access points, and wiring small and out of the street view in any case, because that is how a house like this should be treated. If the city adopts a review process for exterior changes, we prepare whatever the application needs.
Can you take over a system another company installed?+–
Yes. We assess and document what is there, recover or rebuild the programming, replace what has reached end of life, and bring the system under a Cave Watch support plan, so the next problem has a phone number.
