Opening and Renovating From Milan to Mykonos.

Rocco Forte opened The Carlton Milan with 70 rooms in November 2025, the Bus Palladium in Paris reopened as a 35-room five-star hotel with a live-music club in April 2026, Fairmont Monte Carlo renovated 596 rooms and suites in 2025, Hotel Metropole Monte-Carlo unveiled the first 45 of its Jacques Garcia rooms in a floor-by-floor renovation, Four Seasons opened its first Mykonos resort with 94 keys in June 2026, Conrad Athens The Ilisian opened 278 rooms in April 2026, and Palm Beach Cannes reopened as the Riviera's first members' club after a $273 million restoration. Spanish hotels closed 2025 at 75.5 percent occupancy with RevPAR of €125.4, and STR expects European occupancy to hold at 76 percent in 2026.

The rules differ from the United States, and the design follows them: CE marking on every device, DALI-2 lighting control under IEC 62386 with mandatory third-party certification in public spaces, GDPR that keeps the hotel the data controller for guest data wherever a vendor processes it, and the EU's recast Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, due in national law by May 29, 2026, which makes building automation and control systems mandatory for non-residential buildings such as hotels. On the PMS side, IHG approved OPERA Cloud across Europe in January 2026, PPHE runs it across 18 properties and 5,200 rooms, Motel One moved more than 100 properties onto it, and Mews offers more than 1,000 integrations. We design and commission; the qualified local firm executes and certifies the electrical work.

Questions About Europe

Europe, Answered

Which European cities do you take hotel projects in?+

Milan, Rome, Paris, Monaco and the Côte d'Azur, Barcelona, Madrid, Ibiza and Mallorca, the Athens Riviera and the Greek islands, and Warsaw, on a project basis from our Warsaw operations. We claim no completed European hotel; design happens from the drawings with the architect and the operator, commissioning happens on site, and the qualified local firm each country requires executes and certifies the electrical work.

What changes between a U.S. hotel and a European one?+

CE marking on every device, DALI-2 as the lighting-control backbone in public spaces, 230-volt supply and local electrical certification, guest-data handling under GDPR with the hotel as controller, and building automation that the energy directive now requires. The guest room, the network, and the PMS integration are designed the same way; the execution follows the country.

Which PMS platforms are common in Europe?+

Opera Cloud, which IHG approved across Europe in January 2026 and PPHE and Motel One run across their portfolios, and Mews, with more than 1,000 marketplace integrations; Protel and others as well. We integrate the one the hotel chooses with the guest-room controls, the locks, and the AV.

Can you do this in an open hotel?+

Yes. Rollouts are phased by floor or wing, guest-room work is done in short housekeeping windows, public spaces are converted overnight, and the old and new systems run side by side until the last floor is cut over. Most properties never close a room.

Who supports the property after opening?+

We do, remotely first. Cave Watch monitors the network, the guest-room systems, the public-space AV, and the lighting, fixes most faults without a visit, and schedules one when it is needed; Crestron XiO Cloud, the Lutron dashboard, and UniFi give the technician and the property the same view. Firmware and programming updates are staged floor by floor, and the support agreement names response times and what the on-site staff handle.

Walk the Property With Us.

Bring the drawings if the hotel is on paper, the room mock-up if it is in design, or the list of what no longer works if it is open. We will tell you what we would do, in what order, what it would take, and how the rooms get commissioned without closing the floor.
